A teacher or schoolteacher is a person who provides education for pupils (children) and students (adults). The role of teacher is often formal and ongoing, carried out at a school or other place of formal education.
A primary school teacher will usually teach in the mother language of the child, this is the language of teaching. Also secondary school teaching is often in the mother language of the child. Yet for a large number of developing country languages, little or no teaching materials are available. This will limit or impact the literacy level that can be taught (at the scale, required to meet the children's Right to education (Universal Declaration of Human Rights)).
A teacher who is member of a Teacher's Association can benefit from, or contribute to the further development of the profession in his or her language of teaching.
