A good article on the Grand Bargain's progress is Hunting for the Grand Bargain - Fixing emergency aid, one committee at a time (Louise Redvers, March 22, 2017).

A detailed progress on each work stream is in a briefing paper by global NGO network ICVA.

It found that, one year on, most work streams are still at the stage of mapping their topics and commissioning reports and surveys to understand the status quo and create baselines.

The CTCN provides technical assistance in response to requests submitted by developing countries via their nationally-selected focal points, or National Designated Entities (NDEs).

Both for the Active Technical Assistance and for the Inactive requests there is webpage per request which includes the public request document with sections:

  • Problem statement
  • Past and ongoing efforts
  • Assistance requested
  • Expected benefits
  • Post-technical assistance plans
  • Key stakeholders
  • Alignment with national priorities

Recommendation: In order to enhance the mutual learning among development actors who are in need of technical assistance, it is proposed to share the webpages of the technical assistance requests using the hashtags explained in #tags in support of easy information retrieval (video).

In his recent book How Change Happens, Duncan Green (@fp2p) cites his January 2016 interview with Paul Polman (@PaulPolman) to describe the low profile attitudes of transnational corporations (TNCs) when it comes to climate change lobbying. Corporations (micro level) leave the dirty work to business associations (meso level) (p.161-162):

the disparities between trade associations and individual companies are huge. The companies say “Yes yes yes”, but the trade associations say “No no no”. The oil companies are notorious for it.
