We acknowledge the critical importance of biodiversity and the sustainable use of its components in poverty eradication and sustainable development. We welcome the implementation of the global Strategic Plan for Biodiversity 2011–2020 and its Aichi Biodiversity Targets1 by the parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity,2 and we invite all parties to attend the thirteenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties, to be held in Mexico in 2016.
